In three northern provinces, DVV International supports the Cambodian NGO NTFP (Non-Timber Forest Products) in the provision of education opportunities to ethnic communities. This started a couple of years ago in the Ratanakkiri province in Cambodia´s far north east with the establishment of Mobile Community Learning Centres (MCLC) for the ethnic community of the Kavet. These MCLCs are mobile in a sense that they enable learning throughout the year although communities usually shift their locations twice during the year as they have to abandon their fields due to flooding in the raining season. For the project phase between 2021 and 2023, DVV International envisages that “400 Non-Khmer speakers from ethnic communities (at least 60 % of them women) in at least three provinces, have acquired a sufficient level of Khmer language skills to participate both in formal and non-formal Khmer education programmes.”
