The Faculty of Education of National University of Laos (FED NUOL) conducted a study visit to Chulalongkorn University. This project was led by Dr. Kongsy Chounlamany, Acting Dean of FED NUOL; Mr. Christoph Jost, Regional Director of DVV International; and 9 academic staff from the FED NUOL. The objective was to exchange experiences in promoting lifelong learning (LLL).
The FED NUOL has enhanced LLL since 2018. The development process of LLL is going well, generating various achievements. For instance, the FED NUOL formed a LLL team (instructors of LLL content/subjects), who are teaching LLL in different programs at the faculty and some materials (textbooks, handbooks, teaching slides, research papers, etc.), are currently being used at the faculty and its partner institutions.
One of the key objectives of the FED NUOL is to collaborate with institutions in a neighboring country. This network will open up a wider vision for the faculty and create an opportunity for development. The FED NUOL, therefore, has a stake in this activity, “Study visit/academic exchange on promoting LLL at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand”.
The key results obtained from the event are summarized as follows:
- Identify initiatives related to the implementation, management systems and the promotion of LLL by the Department of Lifelong Education, Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University that the FED NUOL can adapt for or utilize in the Lao context.
- Both the FED NUOL and the FED CU, Thailand agreed to a Memorandum of Discussion (MoD). The content must be check and approved by the legislative committee of CU before getting an official signature.
Agreed to conduct collaborative research regarding LLL implementation in Laos, Thailand and Vietnam, which should have at least 2 representatives from each country serving as principle and co-researcher.
