The Department of Non-Formal Education (DNFE) of the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) of Laos hosted a Workshop on the Development of Community Learning Centre (CLC) Model Standard Guideline from October 11-13, 2023, in Keo Oudom District of Vientiane Province. The workshop was chaired by Mr. Sisana Buppha, Director-General of the DNFE, MoES.
The objectives of the workshop were to share knowledge and experiences in Community Learning Centre (CLC) Model Standard Guideline Development with key government organizations from the central to the grassroot levels. The workshop was attended by 45 participants, including representatives from the Department in the Ministry of Education and Sports, Director of Non-Formal Education Development Centre, Directors of the Northern and Southern Regional Non-Formal Education Centre, Head of Non-Formal Education Section of the Provincial Education and Sports Services, Managers of the Community Learning Centre (CLCs), and representatives of DVV International.
The following outcomes were developed and shared at the workshop:
- A guideline of CLC Model Standard was developed and will be finalized and submitted for approval from the Minister of MoES.
- The National NFE Standard was practically applied into CLC model standard for further utilization in the country.
The workshop is expected to contribute to the improvement of the quality of education in Laos by providing a clear and concise framework for the development and implementation of CLC Model Standards. The workshop outcomes, including the developed Model CLC Standard Guideline, will be disseminated and implemented through the structure of the NFE system. The workshop is also expected to strengthen the system of NFE and facilitate its piloting in priority areas.
