Establishing the Concept of Lifelong Learning
Since 2012, DVV International has been supporting the Department for Non-Formal Education (DNFE) in the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) in the development of a decree for lifelong learning. This decree was finally approved by the Prime Minister in March 2020.
What is Lifelong learning
Lifelong learning incorporates different forms of learning including formal, non-formal and informal learning with the aim to provide all people, both male and female, with access to learning opportunities throughout life, to create further knowledge in society which will contribute to the country´s development. In the three-year phase from 2021-2023, DVV International will support DNFE in implementing major aspects of the decree.
What we do

This support concerns the establishment of a National Steering Committee and a National Secretariat and the development of concrete approaches within the decree. This support will be organized with a large range of stakeholders including the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) and the UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok.
First approaches that are being developed include the development of a module on lifelong in teacher education with the Faculty of Education of the National University of Laos as well as the establishment of a cooperation between DNFE and the Department for Vocational Training and Education in order to advance the provision of mobile skills trainings for target groups in rural and remote areas.
