“Luang Prabang, Laos – A recent meeting held from March 11th to 14th 2024 brought together education officials and CLC staff to discuss a new project supporting children and youth learning activities. It was facilitated by DVV International, the Department of Non-Formal Education (DNFE), the Non-formal Education Development Center (NFEDC), and the Northen Regional Non-Formal Education Center (NRNFEC). The meeting targeted provincial and district education heads, technical officials, and CLC staff from all target provinces including Luang Prabang Province, Vientiane Province, Bolikhamxai Province, and Vientiane Capital. 46 people participated in total, including 20 women.
The event aimed to introduce potential model CLC visit locations, present the new project called “Promoting Children and Youth Learning Activities in Model CLCs”, funded by the German Kindermissionswerk Sternsinger, and conduct a needs assessment to identify areas where CLC staff might benefit from further training. Participants actively engaged in presentations, discussions, and interactive activities, fostering valuable insights into the project.
The program utilized various engaging methods to encourage participant contribution, including games, group exercises, and facilitated discussions. CLC staff expressed appreciation for the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the CLC initiatives and DVV International's activities for the current strategic implementation phase 2024-2026.
