A special webpage for the 2016 celebration of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples (9 August) in English, French, Spanish and Russian is now available on the UNESCO portal. This page was developed by the UNESCO focal point on this matter located in its Science Sector (SC/PCB/SII) in collaboration with staff in other Sectors, including the Education Sector.
The special webpage is structured around this year’s theme on ‘Indigenous Peoples’ Right to Education’, and would be a good resource base on UNESCO’s activities and knowledge products.
As you might have seen, the GEM report team has also issued a blog article entitled ‘Promoting indigenous knowledge within the Sustainable Development Agenda’, which can be accessed through this link: https://gemreportunesco.wordpress.com/2016/08/09/promoting-indigenous-knowledge-within-the-sustainable-development-agenda/#more-7990.
There are also several related news releases and articles that have come out, as well as the messages from the UN PFII secretariat and other agencies on the Day as follows.
