VIENTIANE, LAOS — The Non-Formal Education Development Center (NFEDC), in partnership with DVV International, is hosting an intensive training workshop from June 23–27, 2026, focused on the administration and management of provincial, district, and Community Learning Centers (CLCs).
The initiative aims to modernize and unify the country’s non-formal education (NFE) network to better navigate rapid economic and technological shifts. Currently, many regional centers and local CLCs face gaps in strategic planning, resource mobilization, and community-based curriculum design.
To bridge these gaps, administrative staff from the Department of Non-Formal Education (DNFE), the National University of Laos (NUOL), various provincial education offices (Vientiane Capital, Bolikhamxay, Savannakhet, and Xiengkhouang), and local CLCs are participating in the five-day program.
The workshop is designed to achieve several critical objectives that will drive long-term institutional impact. By aligning non-formal education (NFE) practices across all provincial and community levels, the initiative establishes standardized operations that directly support the National Education Sector Development Plan. To make these programs truly community-centric, the training equips staff with the skills to design localized curricula tailored to the practical needs of school dropouts and lifelong learners. Participants gain vital hands-on experience through live community field visits to conduct real-time needs assessments. Ultimately, the program ensures sustainable, long-term impact by requiring structured post-training assignments and strategic planning for future NFE staff development.
