Regional Training of Trainers on Using Soft Skills in Non-Formal Education in Phnom Penh

To continue project from the training workshop on “Using Concept of Soft Skills in Non-formal Education” that took place in October 2015 in Vientiane, this training workshop held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia as “Regional Training of Trainer on Using of Soft Skills in Non-formal Education”. This workshop is joined effort of three partners, funded by DVV International, organized by NEP(Non-government Education Partnership) and facilitated by PRIA( Participatory Research in Asia), India.

The objective of the workshop was to build perspectives and enhancing understanding on participatory training methodologies, to develop skills to facilitate training on soft skills, to Improve an understanding on key areas of soft skills. This time trainers from regional partners such as SEAMEO CELLL from Vietnam, NEP, NTFP and others from Cambodia and the Department of Non-formal Education of the LaoMinistry of Education and Sport, as well as Lao Youth Union were invited. The opening speech from the Director of NEP recognized that “soft skills is something that we cannot touch, cannot see but we can feel of it, soft skills make us work better even you are very well with hard skills (Technical skills) -  if you don’t have soft skills also your hard skills will not be successful”.

In the work shop the trainees have learned the method and the concept of the participatory training, we divided to the small group with different topic for each group such as Understanding Self As The Basic Building Block For Developing Soft Skills, Understanding Decision Making, Understanding Leadership, Understanding Collaboration and Conflict in Teams, Understanding Interpersonal Communication, and Team Building. Some of trainees are already working as trainers, so they run the practice session very professional.

After the training participants made plans to organize the Soft Skills Training Workshop for each country.
