A successful Training of Trainers (ToT) for Community Learning Center (CLC) staff was realized in Vang Vieng District (Vientiane Province) from 21 to 26 April 2025. Thanks to the dedicated collaboration of the Non-formal Education Development Center (NFEDC), the Department for Non-formal Education (DNFE), and DVV International, the training achieved great outcomes.
The core of the program involved a variety of areas. As a base for building pedagogical expertise and essential teaching skills, the "Handbook on Participatory Training for Adult Learning of NFE" was used. Participants conducted lesson planning sessions leading to practical teaching demonstrations, refined their skills by executing and receiving feedback, and engaged in sharing their individual knowledge among their peers. Pre- and post-training assessments were conducted by the team to assess the participants’ knowledge gains. The successful training completion was then celebrated with a certificate handover.
The ToT yielded significant improvements in participants' pedagogical skills, as noted by trainers themselves, and a deeper understanding of training design and facilitation. CLC staff exhibited a strengthened capacity to apply adult learning principles in their work. A key achievement was that 85% of participants are now prepared to create and deliver their own demonstration lessons. Active engagement and the trainers' effective use of varied teaching methods fostered strong knowledge acquisition. The program was also characterized by excellent trainer coordination and teamwork.
